Wipro to develop Vizag as digital city on pilot basis.
CBN met Wipro Chairman Mr. Azim Premji and Company’s Chief Strategy Officer Mr. Rishad Premji in Davos and discussed several issues. Mr. Premji thanked CBN for clearing the IT SEZ proposal which was pending for 3 long years in a record time of 7 days. It has been agreed upon that Wipro will develop Visakhapatnam as a Digital City on a pilot basis.
During the meeting Mr. Premji has agreed to support the State for the following:
· An E-Governance product will be developed through a joint venture. The equity will be decided and WIPRO will collaborate in developing apps
· Wipro will help the State with skill development
· WIPRO will set up a soap (Santoor) factory in Hindupur, Anantapur
· Wipro GE Health Care initiative will be taken up
· Assurance to help State Government promote industries
